In search of tone - Epure

I've been getting pretty reasonable mixing results in terms of balance and impact but my tones sometimes lack a bit.

With that in mind on the last session I did I attempted to get better tone to 'tape' i.e. console eq and comps both external and console and am reasonably pleased with the result. (It's the sort of shizit a lad should be at anyway I reckon)

I've also been experimenting with plugs and dropped my 'go to' CLA comps in search of something smoother, namely the Sonnox and Massey.

I also pulled out the Epure 2 EQ that I acquired a long time ago but didn't really use.

The real test for me is horsing a whole load of top on a Vocal (Hey, it's Pop ok?) - and the Epure seems to do a great job.

Does anyone know anything 'smoother' ? The Epure beats the Sonnox and the Massenburg to my lugs.

That would be my test too. We have the Focusrite and the Sonnox, I prefer the Focusrite. Better than the Massenburg? That's impressive. I'll have to check it out!
