Free €150 Holiday Voucher-NO CATCH

OK, so a couple of weeks ago my boyfriend went into an Applegreen garage for petrol and when he came out of the shop, he showed me a leaflet with a green Applegreen card attached. He said the shop assistant gave it to him and after reading it, I was surprised to see that they were doing a fantastic promotion.

All you had to do was register your details on their website and then every time you buy petrol/diesel etc at one of their garages, you'd hand the card in to be swiped and collect points to exchange for rewards.

    But here's the best part..

If you register your details online, you can take your pick from 4 "Welcome" gifts.
Beauty treatment is one of them but the one I was amazed by was a €150 holiday voucher!

I thought "Surely they aren't just going to give that to everyone who signs up?" but I signed up on their site and clicked on the voucher and ten minutes later, they sent the voucher to me via email which I printed out.
    Conditions-

You must book a holiday through WIN|WIN Travel on Leeson Street before March 2013. You cannot use the voucher as a deposit.
WIN|WIN use well known travel operators, i.e Panorama, SteinTravel, Sunway, Sunworld-so you would pick your holiday from one of those brochures, then call WIN|WIN to book it, mention you have a voucher and lo and behold, you get €150 off!

I know it sounds too good to be true, but next time you're at an AppleGreen garage, pick up on of those leaflets and get yourself a nice few bob off a break away!

    WinWin Travel doesnt even exist!

And the fact that you cant use it as your deposit rings an alarm

You pay a cash deposit, then they tell you after the voucher is invalid, at which point the deposit is non-refundable

Worth pickin up the card though, didnt know Applegreens had em

    Thanks :P

Well now to be fair, the point of a deposit so that you will lose out if you do not follow through on a purchase. You're not going to be all that bothered if you put a voucher you got free in a garage as a deposit, are you?

You are obviously going to tell the travel agent that you have the voucher before you hand over any cash to ensure that they will accept it. Best thing to do would be to confirm voucher at time of booking, pay cash deposit and give voucher at same time and ask for a receipt showing final balance owed.

What is usually the catch with these promotions is the price of the holidays to begin with!

And here is the 'catch', this is a BA forum and it's much cheaper for the average family to plan their own flights, accommodation etc than book through an agent.
If, however you are planning on using these guys for your holiday plan then it could prove beneficial.
With 3 kids we have been booking directly ourselves for the last 5 years and when I compare our costs to operator prices we are generally around 50%-60% of agent price and we get a longer trip (agent max out at 2 weeks a lot) in better accommodation.
For Europe you can't beat RyanAir plus private accommodation booking.

Got one of these cards as well and I got my free eVoucher sent to my email.

Fist of all you have to spend a minimum of 7 nights and you have to book a package deal so flight and accommodation (you can't just get flights) so when you add it all up 150 isn't so much off at all.

You ring up win win travel agency and you tell them the holiday you want and you can only pick holiday through those certain travel operators mentioned above.

It's alright if you're the type of person who would go away for a week to one country and just have everything done straight away and not be too worried about the money, but I myself priced up the holiday and found I was able to go for a hell of a lot cheaper through ryanair or aerlingus and getting my own accommodation through a different site!

One sight quoted me over a grand for that deal with the 150 taken off and when I did it my usual way it worked out just under 400 quid! There is other rewards on that site that seem a lot more better than that one.

If WIN|WIN doesn't exist, why is the Evening Herald giving away vouchers for holidays booked through WIN|WIN?

you'll probably find they can't be used as part of any other promotion and they'll be a promotion already on that gives you an equal or greater discount

    WIN/WIN is a sales promotion company. http://winwin.ie/index.html

Their offices are on Leeson Street, I seriously doubt that they are a bonded travel agency but the companies they actually book the holidays with probably are.

the reason you have to tell them you have a voucher at time of booking is so they can put the price up by 150.
non transparent pricing is not the best way to identify a bargain

exact same predicament with 3 kids. last 4 years went to france, noone within 30% of ryanair flights. this year, off to alicante, checked the flights last week, 980 for ryanair in july return all in, cheapest by far. was waiting on confirmation of the villa, got it yesterday, went back on to ryanair, flights are gone up to 1300 for our time and destination.
nearly got whiplash doing a double take on the price when I went back in, double checked all dates. :(

heres the thing, aer lingus are only 1100.

That is a biach and I've had that myself in the past, a real killer, but the other side of the coin is the flight costs could drop again in a few weeks.
I always grab the flights first, accommodation later

You could be right about this.
What I'll do is, I'll call them and mention the voucher and see what they say.
Then I'll ring round other agents and see how much the same holiday would be without the voucher.
