    Hey,

Finally got a Dreamcast with the intentions of throwing it in my Astro city for all those glorious games it offers.
This yolk will now have an xbox360, cps2 board and Dreamcast in it at the same time and may well burst into glorious flames(if I can fit em all in).. and melt a cps2 board to my face.
Few questions before it goes tits up.

What's the best option for sound/audio for Dreamcast?
I was just thinking standard Dreamcast vga cable and plug phono/RCA adaptor from cable to my amp to get started?

Control wise I couldn't be arsed hacking them and was thinking of buying of made ones of AO market place and just wiring to amp UP connectors.

    Also what about ventilation:eek:
This may well tip it over the edge and I think a fan is finally needed.I am ****ting bricks already over the heat the from cps2 board and old gen xbox360 side by side:confused:

I think I can just hack into jamma 12v wire and run fan off that or is there something easier.

On a larger scale I want to buy a box that can switch between two vga inputs (xbox/dreamcast) and also RCA inputs.

I know there's load on line but any recommendations?

Ok decided to go with this to sort sound and video for Dreamcast.

    http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Adapter-Video-BRAND-Sega-Dreamcast/product-reviews/B000SL4IIG

Now I need a box to switch two VGA connections and RCA inputs-xbox + Dreamcast

    Anyone?

Soon VF3,Gigawing,Fighting vipers, Mars matrix and many more will be on the cab.

    Can't wait..:):):)
Dreamcast is my second favourite console after the Saturn

I've got one of these inside my candy:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000ZBHXZ4

I use it to switch between the 360 and Hyperpsin PC at the moment.

No signal degradation on the sound or video.

    Ah nice one Steve.
Will that split two audio inputs into one audio output though?
eg I want xbox and dreamcast audio going into box and output to my amp which goes to speakers
Ideally Id only like to use the cab speakers for both devices and not have another set or another amp

Yes it will, that's what I have it doing for the PC/360 and I have the Dreamcast in there as well but at the moment I manually plug the VGA cable in until I get a better setup sorted.

For controls, DO NOT think about hacking standard DC pads -- the triggers have input lag and, well, they're analog triggers, not digital inputs.

Best option WOULD have been the AkihabaraShop.jp "Dreams" PCB, but it has been on pre-order since late 2010

Next-best options, then, are (in no particular order):
    • Toodles' MC Cthulhu + scavenged DC cable (site: GodlikeControls.com
    • Toodles' MC Cthulhu + scavenged PSX cable + converter
    • PS1 controller hack + converter
    • AkihabaraShop.jp PS360+ (currently in beta) + PSX + converter
    • Scavenged Madcatz DreamPad controller (cheapest)

    *edit*
And I just realised you said someone on AO sells pre-made ones. Get that, double-check they are NOT using Sega pads first.

Cheers kikk...all mighty pad hacker fountain of knowledge

Dream pcb would be the job if they ever released it.
think Ill go for madcatz pad hack.get em on ebay for nothing.
I read somewhere they were also a solderless hack!!

Something about holes you can use for the wires but I cant see that being true.

Only solderless hack I know is the Spiffyshoes PS1 DualShock hack, which requires a specific model of pad.
