As title says, diesel, medium size, extras not important. No older than 2005

    Octavia 1.9 I'd say.

An Octavia Tour (original model made alongside the new model till lately) from the UK may fit the bill.

    This:

    05 Octavia Elegance TDI 105hp
    Great spec
    Low mileage (if genuine)

    £4,000 = €4787
    VRT €877
    Travel €400
    NCT €55
    Tax €600

Total on the road taxed and tested €6,719
    Badge for boot €40
    Service €300

few quid left over for sweets.

What are the pros and cons of octavias? What are the common faults and are they cheap to fix? They seem to be good deal cheaper than other vag 1.9 diesels. Is this just due to the badge?

Depends on what you compare them to, they're based on the Golf/Jetta/Leon rather than the Passat.

Some of it is down to badge, mechanically they're pretty old school, the 1.9 TDI is on the scene for decades now and whilst a bit rattly and gruff, is quite robust and isn't a mofern common rail engine with all that goes with that.

The Octavia Tour would be cheaper because it's an old old model sold new. mechanically similar to the new model but smaller, particularly in the back seat.

    Boot size is legendary.
