My ford focus 2005 zetec has just gone 69000 miles.

Just wondering when is it recommended to change the timing belt in these cars ??

    Think it's 10 years or 100,000 miles.

We were told 8 years or 100,000 miles but it hit the 100,000 mile mark in 2010 so got it done then. I'd be lothe to leave it 10 years.

It's which ever you reach first. 100k miles or 10 years.

Its 8 years for the mk2 and 10 years for the mk1. Both being 100miles. So your ok.

Yeah they are different alright. Ford are all at least 160k km though except for the new Ka.
