I was looking at alternatives to Hardwareversand since I'm not overly impressed, personally, by their payment options and I came across :

    www.computeruniverse.net

They seem to offer a good range of delivery/payment options, prices are decent and have a C.O.D option for Ireland which is always handy if you don't have or want to do an online transaction but there's not too much mention of this site on this forum and while there is some on others, it would be nice to get feedback from people here.

    Thoughts?

I've been buying from then for over 10 years, also when I lived in Ireland, never a single problem. Excellent support and no problems sending things back. They are not always the cheapest but I don't mind paying the extra few € for peace of mind. You won't go wrong ordering from them. The only issue I have had is when they say stock due within the next week, not always the case and you may have to wait a few weeks.

Check out idealo, it's a good price comparison site and you'll get an idea of what the companies are like to deal with based on the star ratings and number of reviews next to their name.

For the sake of saving 10euro on every component I'd make the trip into the bank and spend 5mins in there transfering the money to HWVS.

it literally takes 5 min to do the transfer.
I handed yer man my phone with the email on it and I didn't even need to say anything. no filling out forms or any paperwork anymore.

Some nice deals on laptops on it though. How much is delivery?

EDIT: Looks like between 25-35 euro...still not bad.

Hello, I need to make a post reply on this topic regarding my experience with computeruniverse.net
First of all sorry for my English. But please read this.

About 2 years ago I purchased various parts to build a new pc. The package was very well done, every box of each part was closed with stickers from the factory, all excellent I was very happy and it came in 1 week no more no less than promised based on what they say on the site.

As I needed to build a new computer for my work, I made a new purchase about 2 weeks ago. The box came today delayed and is next to me with most boxes of parts not opened yet. Why ? because I opened the motherboard first and what I faced was amazing. The motherboard is second hand. And the person that used it must have been very bad with it. All the backside of the motherboard is wet. There is no point on the backside that is not wet. There is a yellow mark next to the backside of the processor area possibly by either the cooling system used or the box it was installed on. There is also a mark of wetness around this particular area surrounding it in a special shape as if something was attached there. I got no idea about water-cooling, but I know it gets installed on the back ? Maybe I am wrong, but I can move the wetness with my finger. Talking about fingers, there are fingerprints all over the backside and the front side. Almost all parts have a fingerprint or slided wetness by a finger or something else. The battery for example is full of that, all the external ports, the handler for the cpu to lock down. Also where it says INTEL DESKTOP BOARD there are two fingerprints -- strange point to touch it with your hands. On the backside the fingerprints exist mostly on the corners. After I saw all that I put the motherboard down on the table and took a look at the SHIELD PAK. Yes it was not closed by any sticker and was cut probably using scissors to get rid of the ripped sticker maybe. A re-used sticker exists on the side that did not protect anything. Part of the wetness from the board is stuck on the inside of this plastic SHIELD PAK. Very cleverly done. Now the external ports area, in particular those little female-jacks for the audio, those pink/green/blue, ..well, there is circular dirt on each one. Not much, but enough to see the circle the dirt makes on each one of those jacks. This can only be caused if the board was installed on a box for longer than 2-3 weeks. Now I do not know what the name is for that other metalic part that you setup on the box for the external motherboard ports, but after I checked this as well, I saw marks on the usb ports, not everywhere, but on the usb ports as if USBs have been used more than once.

I do not want to continue typing..
    Thank you.

    UPDATE:
Yesterday I sent computeruniverse.net 4 emails including pictures and until now 19:50 local hour, I have received no reply.

I called them about 3 hours ago and they were very polite on the phone. But they haven't explained to me why they sent me a second hand broken unit/motherboard. They offered me a refund or to send me a new one. The second option might take a very long time as I was told, once I first need to send the broken motherboard back to them, they have to inspect it, and then send me a new one IF it exists in their stock. Logic doesn't exist here, once they should not inspect a unit they have sent knowing it is problematic. Actually, there is no need to seek for "logic" when a company sends a broken and second hand unit as new. This is illegal.

I have sent a new email asking for a refund and waiting for their reply. If they do not respond the way they should my lawyer is ready and we will take the legal way against the company.

    EDIT:
What this whole thing makes me think, is that next time I will order somethign online, when I receive the package I will video the whole procedure of anpacking it in 1080p.

Is it possible you could you have ordered b stock item by accident?

The pics appear to show a board that has been 'washed' and not done well at all ..... leaving staining and dampness.

I would not expect a 'B' grade board to have required such treatment.
