Well folks I have 12K on My Vredstrein ultracs and I want to turn them.

Should I swop them diagonaly as in put the back right on the front left and so on or rotate them around the car.

Should I just put the front on the rear and dont bother turning them???.

    Cheers..

    Are they directional tyres?

    Front to rear is fine

Move them however you see fit so. For some reason I do seem to remember reading that diagonal is good, but I might be imagining that.

If the spare is the same as all the others, you could invite that to the party too. Move every tyre to the right in that case.

check your owners manual, no hard and fast rule anymore.
normally straight front to rear on a modern car but some strange combinations out there depending on 4 or 5 wheels rotation etc.

The spare is a durty old Sunny so that will be staying put..

I thought diagonal too but I felt that a call on the experts might help. The front ones are well down with such little mileage, I was not very impressed but its a VAG TDI so I suppose its normal...

There are different theories on what is the "correct" way to rotate the wheels. Given that I would expect to get something over 20,000 miles from a set of tyres, what I do is :

    Rear right to front right,
    Front right to rear left.
    Rear left to front left.
    Front left to rear right.

I rotate every 5000 miles and if you follow the sequence above, every tyre gets 5000 miles on each corner. This seems to work pretty well and when tyres are changed, they are worn very evenly across the thread pattern and all are worn equally.

    No harm in trying that..
