(Mods-apologies if this is in the wrong forum)

Anyone heard of/had any experience with this 'publishing house' ?

I received a tempting email from this lot telling me they were interested in my novel etc etc.

Luckily I wasn't blinded by the lights and did some research. Whether or not they're bonafide is not my issue with them. They appear to be a sub-division of a larger umbrella group who report to 'e-publish' you and get you on 80,000 + bookstores across the world.

Some writers suggest 'Just Fiction-Edition' will accept anyone and will get them into online markets but with very little promo and marketing. Sounds to me like it's self publishing but with someone else doing the self publishing for you if that makes any sense.

Anyway, I found it strange that they would show such confidence in a newly written, recently uploaded novel (which still needs some editing/proofing/re-working etc) and that is what spooked me.

    Any opinions?

What's their angle? Are they trying to charge you money up front for their services?

My gut feeling is that whilst it may not be a scam any work submitted might be lost amongst the enormous volumes already submitted by writers willing to sell their soul for very small percentages in royalties.

Becoming published in this sense isn't my goal. Of course, my hunch could be wrong and the company might be wonderful, it just seems a bit too full on.

    Here's the message:

My name is Hanna Meyer and I am writing on behalf of a brand new international publishing house - JustFiction! Edition.
Our house is a part of a larger family of publishing companies, and although we are new to the field of fiction, we have accumulated a wealth of experience in publishing and distributing other types of works.
We are currently actively looking for new, aspiring authors, who would like to publish their manuscripts in E-book and print format. As an active member of www.authonomy.com, we thought you might be interested in our offer.
JustFiction! Edition provides an easy, quick and, most importantly, completely free publishing and distribution service that will put your manuscript on the shelves of 80,000 bookstores and more than 3,000 online retailers worldwide, without the hassle of self-publishing. Additionally, you will receive a free copy of your book and competitive royalty commission.
If you are interested in our service, I would be glad to send you an e-mail with further information attached.
    Kind regards
    Hanna Meyer

    OP, Google: scam "justification edition"

    Seems bogus I'm afraid.

FWIW if you ever find yourself thinking "I wonder is this a scam", the answer is almost always "yes".

Unless you have just won a major competition or walked barefoot to the North Pole, then you can assume that no publisher is going to come looking for you.

And whatever about the idea that someone might be so impressed with your work on authonomy (are you a regular contributor?) that they might be interested in seeing a manuscript, the idea that they would promise to put you in 80,000 bookshops is ludicrous. A standard print run for a new novel is 3,000 copies!

    Agreed, ludicrous.
