anyone notice this? was stopped by the gaurds while cycling donw the north circular road and they handed me some information r.e. registering your bike. bridewell was the where these gaurds were from and what you do is you fill out the information all about your bike and register it with them and if it's ever stolen they can trace it back to you if it turns up somewhere

what to people think of this?

    Can only be good?

    EDIT
    Is this it? -

    http://bikeregister.ie/index.php

Nothing about the Gardai on it, are they moonlighting now on duty? Handing out leaflets for a private company on duty?

Perhaps they have their own one and the above is nothing to do with them?

    EDIT EDIT -

From their website - "The best of all the registration process is free. Your details will be maintained on our secure database. Should your bicycle be stolen, we will work in partnership with the Gardai to return it to you in the event of recovery."

was hoping to do this when you took out a licence with CI. You could register up to 3 bikes. We would then set up something with GS where they could get the registered owner if on our system.

Would that have been a sneaky attempt to get me to sign up 3 times, just to get all my bikes registered?;)
