    Hi all

Looking for advice on a camera purchase. I have an old Panasonic Lumix, 6megapixel and it is pretty good but I am looking to do more video recording for uploading to youtube, live acoustic music etc and I am also looking to upgrade to a higher megapixel quality for pictures. I have up to 600 euro to spend and I would appreciate any and all advice.

    Cheers

my advice is either a panasonic lumix or a canon g12/11 ..... bridge cameras which dont require you know have full photographic knowledge but will allow you to learn before you move completely up to a DSLR.

PS. I'm Canon bias so cant comment on Nikon or other camera makers (heard on Boards that the panasonic lumix are supposed to be very good)

I'd have to agree with PCPhoto, you're best bet would be a good bridge camera. Canon, Nikon, Lumix, Sony all have great camera for very good prices, i started on a fuji 2500hd before moving to dslr, the video on it was brilliant but if youre gonna be filming gigs then you'd want something with better sound quality.

Thanks for the advice. I actually as I stated already have a lumix which I bought in 2005. It is indeed a very good little camera but I do need something better in terms of sound quality. Essentially I will be filming a regular gig night here in Italy *all acoustic so no drumming to contend with" and wanted to get the best sound quality possible to upload to youtube. Should I consider getting one of the newer lumix and a rode mic extension maybe?
