So I'm looking for weekend break locations, for a family of 2 adults and three children under 12.. 5yr old twins and 11yr old... I'm looking for somewhere with a fabulous beach, and of course some family activities!
    Thanks in advance :)

Ok I moved here a few years ago so a bit biased.
Have a look at the Quality hotel in Clonakilty. Good spot for kids with cinema play pen thingys etc etc. Plenty of beaches red strand, the warren, owenahincha, inchadoney and plenty of others 5 mins drive away. Lovely town nice bars and restraunts and theres the west cork railway village too for the 5 year olds. Surf lessons, horse back riding, loads of smaller stonehenge like monuments, beauty spots etc nearby.
Its 45 mins to cork city, 30 to kinsale and skibereen too so not in the back of beyonds. Timoleague and Rosscarberry 5 - 10 mins away.
The coastline in the area is stunning.

Next up Kilmore quay in Wexford is nice for a weekend but only if the weather is good.

Barleycove is for me Irelands nicest beach and nearby Crookhaven is a small but lovely spot but im not sure theres a massive variety of things to do for any longer then a weekend and its a long way from well, everywhere. The Barleycove beach has the added advantage of a little tidal inlet which heats up quickly and is nice and warm for swimming.

    Killarney is popular.

I prefer Dingle and Inch beach though. Kenmare nice too, maybe not for kids though.

Have a look at Clare as well somewhere like Doolin or Kilbaha. Good beaches close to the burren and Cliffs of Moher as well.

I like Westport and Sligo but years since Ive been.
