I'm currently on JSA and finding it difficult to find a job, myself and my partner are considering FIS as an alternative to signing, he is working part time. My question is can you keep signing in the hope of finding a job while I apply for FIS and sign off if I have no luck in this time. We are in a difficult situation as we couldn't live off his money alone in the time it would take for FIS to come through..

FIS will be in your partners name as he is working.you can still recieve JSA and it will be taken as an income when they are calculating your partners FIS.You do not need to give up JSA but you will not recieve any payment for him and you will get half rate for the children.FIS is set for 52 weeks from the date of application so if you get a job after the FIS is applied for it wont affect the FIS payment.

Thanks! But the problem is I would rather not be signing on,thats why we want to.apply for FIS and iv just found out im expecting so I doubt any employers will want to take me on now. I was wondering if I could keep my JSA and continue jobseeking while waiting on FIS and have it cut off when FIS comes through but this does not seem to be the case,we simply cant live off partners wage alone, complicated situation !
