    Hi Folks,

A mates asked me to help with laptop as shes forgot her/the administrator password so can't log on to windows. Its the windows (not BIOS) that has been locked. I work in a computer industry so everyone assumes I know what to do anytime theres a computer issue.... "plug it out and in again".
But I don't have a clue of this side of things thing :D. can anyone help with advise?

Its Windows XP Professional (laptop is Satellite Pro Tosihba). I'm looking for help in terms of how to reset the password so that the administrator or user can log in.

I tried googling it and came across lots of help where you could log in as an administrator and no password. This doesn't work on her laptop so I'm assuming a password was set up against the administrator.

I've tried a few different sites for other suggestions but was wondering if anyone can recommend a website that might take you through the process step by step.

Failing all this I'll bring it into work and have one the techies help me!

    This

    Or a clean install.

Actually, did you try booting to Safe and clicking the Admin account there without password?

Not may people know this :

Press ctrl-alt- delete till you get a windows log on box.

    User name Administrator
    Password : leave it blank.

You'll have access to the default admin account .

Wont work if there has been a password set for the Administrator account...If no password has ever been set....then it will work.

Cba reading the other posts.. Seen this thread on the homepage ..

So wat ud wanna do is get yourself a UBCD(ultimate boot cd)
Technicians Use it to gain access to computers that basicly have simular problems to yours..! There is plenty of different types of UBCD's out there...

But for a safe link you wanna visit www.technibble.com
This website should tell u everything u need to know about a UBCD!

Note. A UBCD is intended for repair use only, it is not intended for malicous purposes.
