My other half's '00 206 1.1L has gotten into the habit of over-revving (revving on its own) both when driving and also when stopping at lights.
From googling, many people seem to suggest the stepper motor (the idle control valve)
Is this the part (in the red box)?

I'll call Peugeot tomorrow but have yis any idea on cost and whether or not replacing would resolve the issue? Or would I be better off just taking the existing part out and spraying the bugger with carb cleaner?

    Hi kbannon,
Thats the throttle body alright...Not sure if you can see it in the diagram but the throttle position sensor (No 3 in dia) is basically a potentiometer thats bolted onto the throttle body.
Think i have a spare (new)one in the Garage.....If you need it drop me a pm...:)

A throttle body/position sensor issue could certainly cause revving issues at idle but normally could cause the revs to fluctuate when moving.

Maybe a clutch issue in addition to a throttle body one?

    Cheers
When put to her, she says that much of the revving does occur when she depresses the clutch.
    Bugger!

    Rough idea of cost?
