    is it unusual or common for dog to catch a woodcock in cover?.was out today and shot 2 an just after starting the ess bitch arrived out of cover wit one in her gob. didnt meet much 2 wet i guess.

    Its common enough, have had them even catch pheasants. Nothing to worry about.

    Just reading this and laughing. My lab today did the very same. Dived into a thick hedge and reversed out with a BRUTE of a cock pheasant in his mouth. I have released 15 hens this year so I gave him a yellow card and let him off. Hope no one rattles him over the coming days.
