If it does happen what will replace it as the world reserve currency? The euro is in trouble as well

What is it to be devalued against?

The Yuan will be the global currency. Cheap Chinese imports will be a thing of the past soon enough.

RMB or Yen, Probably Yen as the leader currency in an Asian 'Basket' as a replacement for the dollar, if the Eurocrats were in any way clever they'd leave the yanksswingin in the wind with this Iranian embargo and angle the euro in there as the default currency for international trade, one the Dollar becomes bypassed for oil trade it wont be so much a case of Devaluation but a realisation of its true value globally.

I think it's on a par with another thread that popped up around 12 months ago that proclaimed that the Euro and USD would be at parity by mid-2011.......needless to say that didn't happen!

    Broadly speaking:
Watch the people with the money flock to things like gold (they should already have!), thereby inflating its price. Dollar will tank, said people will then, at the right time, flock back into the stock market and buy back whatever (more or less) they sold for "pennies on the pound"
Stock market will then begin a long climb by jumping hugely in the early days.

They will make a fortune. We won't.:(

    Ha!

You should definitely stock up on Euros and Yens.:D

The dollar is the world's reserve currency and the US will lead the world, yes, China, Japan, and the EU out of this economic demise.

I'll put your dollar comments right up there with your gold comments. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056454312

The day's of the dollar being the worlds reserve currency will shortly be over.I do not think the rest of the world will stand by and let the Fed print there way out of trouble destroying the wealth of people across the world.

    saywhatyousee,

I doubt anything will replace the dollar as the world currency in my lifetime.

When you say shortly, what time frame have you in mind? Give us an idea in years?

Also, which currency do you think is going to replace it?

Surely, you cannot think the Euro is going to replace the dollar? You do understand that the Fed is actually backing up the Euro, don't you? Point of fact, the American Fed has saved the Euro, Canadian dollar, and many other currencies.

Perhaps, the yuan? If you believe this, I hope you're not an investor. The Chinese economy is in far worse shape then they allow the world to know. When it comes to cooking books, they do a better job than General Tsao Chicken!

BTW - America is showing all of the signs of having turned an economic corner. The US is coming out of recession. The EU though, is just about to enter a double dip.

The EU just didn't react fast enough or take the correct steps to head off what is about to come your way.

It is still hard to believe the EU is still mucking about with the Greeks.

Think about how bad the Euro is when the US is on to QE 3.0 and the Euro just keeps getting weaker.

If you think the $ is going to be devalued by 50%, where is the Euro going to be?

The German taxpayers aren't going to bailout Europe. In fact, Europe cannot bailout Europe.

One would expect the IMF to have to step in which is essentially a bailout by the dollar. Although the Chinese could step up and buy EU debt, it's not likely. They know where the smart money (their money) is: the US not the EU.

Not sure about the "wealth of the people across the world" saywhatyousee, but if you live in the EU, your wealth is tied directly to the dollar. You may not like that, but you had better recognize it.

A gold backed Yuan will be the dominant global currency if the US keep printing fiat money and the euro area doesn't get its act together.

    WTF folks?

Is this thread originating in lazy posting or can someone explain how that is a conspiracy? Its a possibility alright. It could be seen as a conspiracy against US citizens but it hasn't been described as so by the OP?

Quantitative easing of any kind is always a form of robbery of the people. But where's the conspiracy? This should be in survivalism or probably After Hours? As someone else pointed out, its half-baked opinions with nothing to back it up? Links, links, links please.

As for 'we'll all be poor' when dollar and FIAT currencies slump? Why?? Just buy gold. If you can't, then you're already broke so, in effect, so what?
