Mondeo Bearing Advice

Hey people

I have a 02 TDDI mondeo. There's a whisteling noise coming from the back wheel and I presumed it was a bearing that needs replacing, not an expensive job usually but a guy in fast fit just told me that that model mondeo has a hub on the back wheels and the whole thing needs to be replaced at a cost of €380. Anyone ever hear of this before? Or was the guy on the phone just trying to get more money.

He is correct that the whole hub needs to be replaced but the price is way off. The hubs are available for around €120 + VAT, fitting should cost no more than €30-40.

Bloody typical!! lol. Any idea where would be a decent place to get a hub?

Most good motor factors will have them in stock. Where in the country are you located?

george is spot on 120 rrp+vat,

Ps prices vary massivly between suppliers and brands, doesnt always mean people are trying to rip you off, i have another make their and there 285 rrp,
you always need to price around

I've done quite a few of these. I get them from a guy on ebay who has a motor factors in newry and in monaghan - sent it overnight by courier.

€51 delivered to the door - good value. no need to spend anywhere near the €120, only on a genuine ford part.

Ok I just rang a motor factors and when I have him the reg of the car he said its just a normal bearing that needs to be replaced not an entire hb and it only costs €30 for the part, now I'm confused lol

It's a bolt on hub assembly, takes no more than half an hour to fit.
