2011 saw Ireland return to the Eurovision Top 10 for the first time in five years and the appearance of Jedward meant that both the semi-final and final achieved some of the highest Irish viewing figures in the history of the contest.
RTÉ will once again use five mentors to select the entries that will compete in the 2012 Eurosong final, on a "Late Late Show" special on February 24th.
The winner will be chosen by regional juries and a televote.
It has been confirmed that 1992 Eurovision winner Linda Martin will be Jedward's mentor, as they aim to represent Ireland for a second year in a row.
2005 Irish entrant Donna McCaul will also compete.
Unlike previous years the songs are likely to receive widespead radio play before the final.
