MTB external BB compatibility query

    Have a Shimano HONE chainset (one of Shimanos random "guest" groupsets, now defunct) - will an XTR BB90 bottom bracket replace my existing one?

    I'm wary of XTR in general, as some other components sometimes have quirks that make them incompatible with other groupsets. But the XTR BB is cheap and readily available, the tech docs on the Shimano website suggest it's just the usual external BB fitting procedure.

    Will I be ok or should I get XT or Saint BB instead?

    You could try asking on the RetroBike forum. There are plenty of very knowledgeable guys there that would know.

    :D It's not purple anodized biopace or anything!
    It was released in 04 or 05 and became SLX more recently.
    Just wondering if anyone had used an XTR BB (specifically the BB-90 model if possible) with a non XTR crankset.

    EDIT - as you were lads, just checked the fine print - it's compatible with an XT crankset so I'd say I'm sorted.... matte black and all matches the rest of the bike...
