Anyone else seen this interview with Philip on Cyclingnews

I really hope he has a good year and returns to somewhere near his best form this year. I think the step away from the ProTour will really help and I can see him doing well in the week long stage races he will participate in.

However I do find the idea of him basing himself at home in Donegal as strange. Knowing what the weather is like in Donegal, it requires an incredibly high level of motivation to face out into the **** weather all the time. I mean just look at the weather in Girona at the moment and compare it to Ireland.

Being surrounded by family and friends can also be a double edged sword, maybe things become too comfortable and there will be more temptations around. I know Philip spent a lot of time at home between races last year so maybe he needs that environment to benefit, I dont know.

Regardless, best wishes to Philip in 2012.

I'm pretty sure I've seen him cycling around the back roads a number of times. He looked strong.

I'm sure it helps with the motivation to be able to just get up and do your training but just turn off when you're finished and not feel like you're in a training camp the whole time.

Wouldn't cycling against that Atlantic wind make you stronger?

The weather in Donegal probably looks pretty good right now.
