    Hi

I'm having trouble finding a fix online for this so Im hoping the fine people of boards can help.

I have a Dell Inspirion 6400. Running windows 7. I have recently changed the location of my laptop in my house in doing this my battery expired (doesn't concern me as laptop always pluged in). Also my keyboard and touch pad stopped responding correctly.

The mouse jumps when i use it and the keys are like their sticking have to be pushed twice etc..

I have a usb mouse and it works perfectly I've tried disconnecting everything, virus scans and checking for a driver update but to no avail.

I am fairly proficient with computers but Im stumped any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Does anybody else live in your house? Could it be that another person had a little accident spilling fluids over your laptop and wasn't brave enough to tell you?

I have a 6400 running W7 too BTW. Which had a little accident and keyboard is not 100% anymore :D

If only that were it.. this wouldn't be bugging me so much no accidents Im afraid!

Found it to actually run much better on 7 than vista..

It really does sound like something spilled on it, even gone un-noticed. If your comfortable with computers you could take appart the palm rest assembly and see if theres anything causing the "sticking" behind the touchpad and two keys. Even using something too strong to clean the machine could have screwed it up :( .
Look for a service manual for that machine on the Dell site, Dell are quite good at providing such :)
