Just in the process of ordering a set of blanking plates to delete the swirl flaps on my X5 but there are 2 sizes apparently and i want to ensure i order the right ones.

Is there anywhere online I can go to check the size of mine to avoid me having to take the inlet maniford off etc.

    Thanks,

    MM

I think it's actually uncommon for the X5's to have flaps fitted, but the only way to know is to check the manifold.

    What year is the x5 if it's over a 05 I wouldn't change them u shouldn't have a issue with that engine

And my guess is about the two sizes one is for say the 320d engine which is 4cylinder and the other is for the 530d engine which will be bigger and 530 and x5 share the same engine

I think I read previously that its not that clear cut.

    +1

theres another way of checking, but i think you need to enter your VIN onto realoem and check what size was fitted there.

I could be wrong but afaik the issue exists up to the 07 LCI Model so a 05 will be impacted.

There is no way of knowing what size you need without removing the manifold. The company I ordered from offered to send both with a full refund on the set I didn't need within 30 days.

Chanced me arm on the large ones and they were correct.

My engine is the M57 unit, according to realoem (thanks kceire) and it gave me the production date of my x5, so from that I'm able to order the right sizes........and just have done so from PMW in the uk .... http://www.pmwltd.co.uk/?page_id=155

    thanks again all.

The X5 got its LCI in mid 2004.
    2007 was a complete new X5 ;)

I got 6x of the smaller size left over I can sell for cheap (tenner plus postage?) if anyone wants. I installed them in a 535d and ordered both sizes (think I used the large size in the 5 series) to be safe.
