i have a quad port lnb pointing to astra 28.2 east. 2 cables go into a diseq switch and the other 2 go into another diseq switch. a cable then runs from each diseq switch into 2 seperate comp receivers which are pvr ready.

now the problem i have is that neither receiver allows me to watch one channel wilst recording another channel even though the receivers are capable - opticum 9600 prima ts and a opticum x703

is my cabling correct or have i done soemthing wrong? do the cables from the lnb have to be in specific ports and the same with the diseq switchs?

    im confused:(

Why are you using Disecq switches. ?? If these receivers are dual tuners then you need to run 2 cables from the Quad LNB to each receiver.

the reason im using diseq switches is that i plan on sticking another lnb on my dish (at a later date) which will point to hotbird

heres the 9600 http://www.globo.com.pl/?y=3&cmd=show&category=2&prod_id=42 are you saying my probleim is that this has only one tuner?

You only need 1 cable from the astra28 into the disceq (LNB1) switch and you can connect hotbird to (LNB2) in the future. How many lnb inputs are on this Globo receiver its hard to tell from that picture. If this receiver has only 1 tuner then you will only be able to record 1 channel.

let me ask it another way.

if i want astra and hotbird going to the one receivier and be able to record one satellite channel whilst looking at another satellite channel how do i achieve this and how many/where do i run the cables?

i assume i will need to change my receiver?

    thanks

You will need a receiver something like this http://www.satellitetv.ie/shop/index.php?controller=product&product_id=264

You could also use a Humax, which is under €300. With modified firmware, see here, you'll also have the Freesat EPG for Astra.

Dicey, I dont think either of those receivers are dual tuners even though they imply being able to watch one channel while recording another. AFAIR the 9600 is combi but even then I dont think it allows recording terrestial while watching sat. It is possible in some cases to watch a channel on the same transponder as the one you are recording, that is all, and perhaps the same for the watching one terrestial while recording another, but thats the limit. Diseqc wont turn a single tuner into dual, so unless the receiver has 2 sat feeds it cant record one and play another.

As you have 2 receivers you can obviously watch one while recording the other. Thats where the diseqc comes in, you can take multiple (different)sat feeds from multilnbs and feed down single cables in to each receiver. That way you can have the same set of satellite channels on each receiver.

The Humax is a dual tuner Satellite only PVR. In non-Freesat mode it is a generic satellite receiver that supports DISEQC. In Freesat mode it has the full EPG, but is meant to receive the Freesat stations, only. However, with modified firmware non-Freesat channels can be added to the EPG and these can be on another satellite.

Thought it obvious I was referring to the OPs receivers which he currently owns and wanted info on. Apols to you & scaller if appeared otherwise.
