    hi there,

i recently applied for invalidity pension and was refused as i was ten contributions short of the required 260. I was on disability allowance for over a year and on jobseekers before that. I am unable to work.

How are you supposed to get the remaining ten contributions if you are unable to work? I rang sligo and they are sending me out a list of my paid contributions and employment which i can check against my own records.

What do you do next? what do you need to send in with your appeal?

    Thanks.

You quite simply cannot get an Invalidity Pension if you do not have the required amount of contributions. There is no "wriggle" room on this it is very cut and dried. There is no point in appealing unless you can prove that you did in fact pay the contributions, unrecorded by DSP. You can stay indefinitely on disability allowance, your unlikely to be called for a medical review. In certain circumstances you can get the free schemes, fuel allowance etc.
