I'm looking at purchasing Maxxis Ignitors for my XC hardtail, I was thinking 2.35 up front and 2.1 at the back. I have an aggressive riding style and like to ride with speed. Is this overkill? Should I just go with two 2.1s?

Ignitors are more narrow than they quote so a 2.1 is closer to a 1.95...

So 2 x 2.35's may be more what you need..

Always use 2.1s front and rear and never have any issues. Personally think for XC 2.35 is overkill!

I use ignitor 2.1s front and rear, tubeless. Great tyres, for fast xc work, I can't imagine why you would need anything wider.
I have just measured them. With 45 lbs pressure, they are 2.04 inches at their widest point.

I run a 2.4 on the front and a 2.1 on the back on one hardtail and 2 x 2.1 on another, I prefer the added confidence the 2.4 gives.

I've got 2.1's front and back. Only recently heard someone mention about putting wider size on the front so I've never tried it. Damn tyres cost me €55 each in Holland so quite expensive to experiment!

    2 x 2.3s for me, 35psi ish.
This is on a hardtail, so it's as much for shock absorbing on the back as it is for traction. Slow on the boring bits, fast on the fun bits ;)
