toyota avensis t3x economy problem

    i recently bought a 2004 toyota avensis t3x 2litre. i seem to be only getting 40mpg and thats if i drive very easy, no heavy foot at all. was wondering if anyboy had the same problems or no of any solutions or were i should start to look.

    what kind of driving?
    100% motorway?
    50% motorway ...........?

    And tbh, what were you expecting, 40mpg is quite good imo, i drove my T-Spirit around dublin for a year and averaged mid 30's only.

    50/50 motorway and none motorway. economy was the main reason i bought it. according to figures on secveral different websites i found it should average around 48mpg. i had to drive like a granny to get 40mpg over the last 4 days and that wasn't going by the trip computer. i measured it the old fashioned way. the trip computer says im getting 53.

    50/50 motorway @ 40mpg sounds about right to me.
