problem with boiler/new boiler recommendation

    hello all

    boiler seemed to pack it in yesterday, boiler guy recommended we get a new one as it is on its last legs and not worth repairing or safe to repair,
    any recommendations bearing in mind there would need to be able to cater for a possible upstairs extension?

    does the deal currently with bord gais home team seem like a good idea (2yrs interest free) or best go locally, http://www.bordgaisenergy.ie/hometeam/heating-replacement/

    Hi Johnnie, as far as I can see its a potterton netaheat electronic and I haven't a clue as to how old it is as it was here when we moved in but it is over 5years old.

    It's an old one.
    An independant installer would be cheaper but wouldn't have the 2 years on the bill, (sierra/home team) put an end to that.

    I'm doing one on Thursday. Same boiler, they quoted for an analogue time clock and I quoted for a Siemens Programmable room stat (wireless) and I still came in €450 cheaper.

    Your best bet is to let them quote, then get 3 or 4 independents in to quote also and way up your options.

    Make sure the system is flushed and cleaned thoroughly before the boiler goes in.
