It entry level jobs?

    I passed my A+ last week and working hard on the N+. Ireland has literally no entry level 1st line support roles for entry level. If I search the UK, I get around 30 job perfect for me, entry level IT jobs with no experience required.

    Is there a lack of these jobs in Ireland? Am I really going to have to look at working in the UK? I was told before that these jobs in Ireland are very short term contracts so they are not advertised.

    If anyone is able to shed light on this please let me know.

    As someone with experience working in IT Support in both UK (where I'm from) and now living in Cork, I would say that there are fewer entry-level jobs here in Ireland.

    Certainly in London for example I know of several places running ongoing recruitment for 1st Line Support people and have to recruit people with call centre experience and very little IT experience.

    In Ireland employers seem to expect far more experience and technical knowledge, but having said that salaries are better for entry level jobs.

    Still if it is your preference to stay in Ireland then opportunities can and do come up. It is very quiet at the moment as a lot of places have filled any vacancies with Christmas staff.

    Good luck with finding something though. I am unemployed myself and it is not easy to find anything, even unskilled jobs. Hopefully we can both stay in Ireland and not join the list of economic emigres.
