I was just getting pissed off at how tedious I was finding patching in Pure Data Yesterday, and started thinking about whether to learn SuperCollider or CSound next. Decision made!

    Nice one!

Victor Lazzarini teaches in NUIM, yeow :p

Turns out it's a Max for live patch, so you're running Max to get the two to talk.
Looks like an excuse to charge people for Csound patches if you ask me.

Seems a bit pointless, don't know why they didn't just make the effects as a regular plug-in and sell them. Or just use the API and the VST front end.

Yeah, saw that too, you need to buy M4L to work with a FLOSS program?

    Yeah, that was my thoughts.

Feck sake, Csound sitting on top of Max sitting in live. This stuff won't end until Live is running in Max running in Live. The cycle is COMPLETE!

There is a Csound VST (which is official) so why not just use that?

Well you can code on the fly, kind of. It allows you to load a patch edit it and save and reload while the whole things running. Useful for prototyping perhaps.

You can pretty much live code in QuteCsound virtual MIDI'd to a DAW. Can't really see the point in the plug-ins. It's not true live coding like Pd, Csound has to be stopped and started for the changes to take effect. Still, it's relatively
painless to prototype & modify virtual instruments.
