Err... thread title should say "Donor Case"....

So thinking of building a wooden case for my PC. The idea being that I can build it to my particular shape a prevent intrusion from an inquisitive 2 year old....

That said, to make things easier I think I'll buy a donor case to rob the back panel from and maybe the 5.25" mounting cage. Had a look on Peats and saw this for €45:
    http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog_v2.cgi?id=28753&type=product

    Or this for €40:

I'll be dumping the any included PSU so just really the case I want. Anything wrong in my line of logic?

The back panel will come with the motherboard, not the case. Its fairly easy to build a wooden case, just as long as you get the standardised layout for stuff like motherboard standoffs, hard drive mounting etc.

Biggest thing to be wary of is airflow, you need to have enough so that your stuff isn't overheating. Make sure you try and follow the 'suck cold air from the front/bottom, blow hot air out the top/back' design. Something like this:

Cheers.... I was thinking the back panel of the case for securing PCI cards mostly. Figured it would be worth the few quid to chop up a case for those slots.

That's a good idea the way he has the motherboard. How safe would PCI-E cards be though?

I was thinking that myself, Couldnt see it if the drawer gets closed too rough or anything shaking about but I'm sure there is a way around it
