Campervan Height?

I know this has been somewhat of a grey area, with certain local authorities taking a different approach and so forth.

I'm just wondering can anyone confirm that they've recently converted a van (excluding pop top roofs) which is under the old minimum height limit of 1.8m and succesfully taxed and insured it as such?

I just want to be sure before I buy another van for the purposes of converting it to a camper. The last time I failed the engineers report due to chassis failure, bloody Ford Transits, rust buckets:mad:
