    Hi,
I'm looking for a Saorview/FTA combo receiver. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Have been looking at tvtrade.ie and at the Triax ST HD 537 and Smart CX61.

Triax looks nice with MHEG5 support and decent EPG and menus but from reading other threads looks to be some serious issues with the box (have any of these issues been resolved?)

Recording functions (with ex HD) look good on Smart box, also much cheaper than the Triax.

    Any other suggestions?

If you want MHEG5, then wait for the forthcoming Triax box or the Walker combo, both of which I'm told should be on the market near end of February.

Otherwise, get the Smart, or the Ferguson Ariva 120 if things like digital teletext or subtitles don't bother you.

    Hi,
I finally took the plunge and bought the smart cx 61 combi receiver. I must say it is the best buy I ever bought. I can record two irish channels and watch the third channel so finally I found something that can replace my dvd recorder. It has the option of recording once, daily or weekly so it also solves the problem of going on hols for two weeks and has 32 timer setting which would definitely cover you for a two week hol. I must admit the instruction book is in german but trade.ie have loads of videos that explain everything and for a euro they will pre programme it for you. you get a full epg on irish channels the free to air are now and next my main reason for getting it was recording of irish channels I used a hdmi lead to connect it to flat screen tv would recommend you also buy a hdmi lead from tv trade as I didnt realise till afterwards they cost €20 locally where you can get a good one for €10 there by using this cable I can still use my dvd recorder through scart. I have it now two weeks and am very happy with it at the moment no down side as yet. :)
