    Hi guys,
I'm looking to access my movies and music in my time capsule while I'm away from home.
I've followed lots of online tutorials but no luck :(
I've also downloaded 'file browser' for the iPad, cool app but I want to use it the same way to access the time capsule.

I'm curious if anyone has set theirs up the same way I want to??
Or another hard drive in an airport express for that matter.

If its for an iPad then you need something to serve the media.

    I recommend plex. Google her.

You will install the plex server on a mac/PC at home and point it to the media on your time capsule.

Then you will need to get the plex client from the app store into your iPad. Create a "myplex" account and your server will auto publish across the web to your iPad.

I have splashtop that can do that, not the way I want to work it cuz I'll have to leave my mac on.

Prefer to go straight to the time capsule.
Thanks for the idea tho .

I would imagine that your ISP serves you with a dynamic IP address?

If so, then you need a dynamic DNS service (I use dyndns.com but I think they are no longer free) and set it up on either your router or time capsule (depending on what device supports dynamic dns). I have it setup on my router. Now every time your ISP refreshes your IP address your router will send the new address to your dynamic DSN provider so that you have access to your network. You will also have to portforward whatever ports you need for particular services.

You also need to have an app on the iPad that can connect to an AFP share and decode a media file. Not sure of one that exists.

If its only for media playing I highly recommend you go the Plex route. It involves zero network configuration.
