Wired up a new pipe stat to newly installed solid fuel stove. wasn't involved in the plumbing of it, just connected the stat to pump.
It's a basic strap on type with rotary thumbwheel. a few feet from the boiler output.
The stat switches on ok, but is very slow to switch off again, the pipe has cooled well beyond set point before it turns off. Is there an alternative stat that will react quicker, still keeping a decent hysterisis

It could be faulty if it's dropping that much. What make is it?

don't have make at hand, I'll be calling in tommorow for another look. It came with a sachet of conduction paste but it seemed very runny. even with the paste I'm doubtful it will make enough difference. I'll try a known good stat in it's place tommorow

Was it a Sauter/EPH stat by any chance?

i have a mate that asked me to find out if he changed his old system to a sealed system, can he put expansion vessel on the existing vent pipe in attic as he has no where else to put,i told him it would need to be close to boiler on return and i would seek a second opinion.
