Swing/Jazz wedding band recommendations?

We'd like something a bit different bandwise - we've been to so many weddings it's got to the stage we're seeing the same groups repeatedly - and we are thinking of some Sinatraesque group but finding it difficult to get recent wedding reviews on them.

Has anybody, for instance, seen Velvet Lounge play at a wedding? Were they good, and did they get the crowd out? I'd be happy with some chilled-out ceol in the background but the other half really wants a band that gets people dancing. So, would anybody be able to recommend a band that can do this?
    Thanks.

Never seen them at a wedding but I've heard great things about Midnight Swing.

    hi!
I am looking for exactly the same thing and been finding it a bit difficult also!

We went to see the brat at a gig in city north hotel over xmas and while they are good they dont come with a "live" band they use backing music.

the Wedding knights are going to be at the bride of the year show this weekend at the rds so we are going to have a chat with them then.

The swing cats (whose lead singer was in the wedding knights when they were called the irish rat pack) have quoted us but we havnt seen them play yet.

Other than those three we have been stumped when trying to find a swing band so if you come across any more pls spread the word:D

I had Midnight Swing for my own wedding in 2008 and we were very happy with their performance and our guests were well entertained and kept up dancing.
I have also played some gigs with the Velvet lounge and they have never failed to impress with a full dancefloor each time.
I would find it difficult to choose between them to be honest.

bear in mind a full swing band will have many more members adding to cost. A lot of similar bands can go out as a reduced price due to using tracks but its argumentative then that youre getting a live act so are you really getting what youre paying for?
I suppose if budget dictates you have to go for the cheaper option then you have to be less picky about these things.

Velvet Lounge is playing in the Mint bar in the Westin hotel on Westmoreland Street in Dublin this Saturday night from 10pm, so we'll give them a gander. We've heard the lead singer, Cormac Kenevey, sing at venues around Dublin during the years but have never seen this line up. He can be very mellow and I like that a lot, but we'll have to check if they can get the crowd out.

Connor McKeon is probably still ridiculously expensive so we didn't even bother emailing him. We emailed Frankly Sinatra (Seán Hession) last week but he hasn't responded yet.

    Hi there!
I ment to come back but forgot all about it:oWe went to see Connor Mckeon in Leixlip house hotel a couple of weeks back and they were brilliant!!We had a few friends with us on the night and we had a great time.We left our details with them that night and expected to get a shock when we saw the pricing list!Well we got a shock alright BUT it was a good shock and we ended up booking the 6 piece band and dj for our wedding. If your still looking id definatley recommend giving them a go.Sorry if im too late:o
