If a tap is dripping, or a toilet is over filling, this would cause the pump to kick in.

Its either , one of three things , the pressure vessell has lost its charge , the non-return valve is stuck , or most likely one of your toilets has a ballvalve which is not shutting off , check your toilets , lift off the cistern lid and make sure they are stopped filling , there are isolation valves built into the hoses on the pump , if you close the ones on the outlet hose and the pump does not kick in you know its a problem with your plumbing ( leak or toilet overflow) , if it still kicks in with valves off its an issue with pump ( non return or vessell , or pcb)

Yep, I concur with this, and I actually think you can hear something dripping in the background? something sounds like its leaking or dripping, this in turn is causing your pump to kick on & off . . . . . . .

Apart from that, its is noisy anyway, have you thought about having it boxed in? you might also make sure that its sitting on a stone floor, or failing that make sure its on a concrete slab of some kind to kill the noise > If the pump is on a wooden floor it will be very noisy!!!

Should have also mentioned in my previous reply , if your pump is keeping you awake at night it isnt a problem to switch your pump off at night until you get your problem sorted.

Also as LORDSUTCH mentioned hearing a dripping noise in the background , id say thats your combi cylinder re-filling
