Requesting extra copies of books in the library

Can you request extra copies of books in the library? The particular book I'm after is missing or being recatalogued. It's down as essential on the reading list.

Can I just ask the librarian at the desk or do I need to send my request to the head librarian?

Used to be that you'd request it from the subject librarians. They might need a copy of your recommended texts from the course. No idea if this is still the case.

Some things seem to be missing for ages, makes you wonder where they end up - in the building, the system or simply not returned. Frustrating if there's only one copy.

Just to update, the book I was looking for - on the system it says there are only two copies - one missing, one recataloging. I mentioned it to a classmate, apparently there was a number of copies on the self. Had a look with the code for the missing book, and sure enough there was a number of copies of the book! Strange.


You know, there is a missing copy of The Man WHo Mistook His Wife for A Hat and it really annoys me because on the system it says its in. The librarian told me to look around the area but it appears to be missing. I really want to read it! I can't get it in my local library. :cool:

Another college told me to leave it a week and if there was still no sign, to complete a form if something was still missing. That got it sorted.

It and Awakenings are sitting in my 'to read' pile, which partly contributed to a bookshelf collapse...
