Changing sterling to Euro

    Having recently moved to Ireland I need to change a sum of sterling to euro for mortgage purposes. any advice on options available please..

    If you have UK bank accounts etc. you can try a standalone company such as Hifx or foreign currency direct - no connection but I have used both in the past - they should give you a MUCH better rate than a high street bank. You'll probably need to send them passport scans etc. to verify your identity.

    They will also be able to sell you forward contracts if you have to transfer money from the UK regularly. Sadly the days of £1 = €1.50 are gone, at least for now!
