Network and Sound cards.

Hey, was just wondering if I would need a network card with this motherboard.

I have a wireless usb network adapter and I read that most motherboards these days have them built in. The mobo description also says that it has 2 x Gigabit Ethernet.

I use headphones with my computer btw

Ok so the wireless network adapter will 'cancel' out the need for a network card and the headphones 'cancel' out the need for a sound card. I was just unsure, sorry

Stop stop stop, if you think this, go do a lot of reading before you buy anything because honestly you're clueless.

To start, you always need a soundcard, no matter what you connect to it. The soundcard creates the signal and then headphones or speakers turn it into sound waves that you can hear. If you mobo has onboard sound, that means it has a soundcard of sorts built into it, so you dont need to buy a PCI one.

If you're using wifi then you'll need a PCI wireless card, its a better solution than some ****ty usb dongle.

I am just wondering if I would not need one if my Mobo had one built in, I couldn't tell. Ok thanks for clearing up the sound card, I will look into it.

When you say you use headphones, do you use headphones to do an odd bit of gaming, just watching movies and youtube clips, or are you a gamer and/or music lover? You could get a PCI sound card if you wanted to, Asus Xonar DG 5.1 is great for the price, I have one in another computer and it's a good difference when using headphones (Sennheiser 205s). Has a built in amplifier.

A lot of those usb wireless adapters perform just as good as a PCI wireless cards so you don't need a PCI wireless care.

Anyway OP, there's no need to get a soundcard unless you're a complete audiophile with a very fancy audio set-up or you're using specialised equipment. The onboard sound usually is more than enough for an average user.

Yeah I don't have anything fancy, just some nice headphones, thanks for the info.
