    All,

My OH is looking to get an Astra 1.3 Diesel circa 07-08. Has anyone any experience on how good/bad these are mechanically. I understand the turbo has to work quite hard on the engine to get the power up and that they are fairly dead off the line but she's more interested in the 80k round trip to work every day on the M7.

Any info on engine/turbo/clutch/gearbox would be appreciated. Do these have a DMF? How does it rate?

    Thanks in advance
    Ross

p.s. If you spot or know of a 3dr one for sale let me know please!.... oh and she'd like a red one :o

    Hi OP,

I have a 07 1.3 90bhp diesel, 6 speed, little bit slow off the line but once its up and running its fine, 162000km on the clock, generally trouble free, replaced clutch once and I now need to replace a wiper mechanism, not cheap! I can do as much as 500km in a day ( I use it for work)and find it reasonably comfortable most of the time. It does feel a bit light in some of the windy weather so beware. ! downside is its small fuel tank (45 litre) but if driven carefully have gotten over 1000km per tank.Once in 6th gear it really runs at very low revs.

Would I buy another 1, no probably not, too small for mand not sure I trust its handling fully in windy weather. the engine is fine once you get used to it apart from the clutch I have suffered 1 breakdown.
