Going to Edinburgh for a weekend near the end of April with my boyfriend

Any suggestions of cheap or even free things to do and see? Or anyone know of any events or anything on then?

Also, how would the weather be there at that time? I assume pretty much they same as it'd be here..?

    Thanks!
    :)

Go for a stroll around the castle or the old town. I think you have to pay to get into the castle but the area surrounding the castle is free and quiet nice.

Climb Arthur's seat. It's a big hill over looking Edinburgh. Amazing view.

Also have a read here should be something that'll catch your eye:

Princes Street Gardens are nice. National Gallery is free. You could take a tour of the Houses of Parliament. Most pubs/coffee shops have magazines listing what is on in Edinburgh so I would suggest picking this up when you first arrive.

Weather wise it is hard to predict. I was therefor four days once in April and went from wearing hat and gloves on my first day to being able to eat out wearing a light top. I would advice bring layers of clothes as even if it is cold out nearly everywhere has their heating on high you would feel like passing out if you have a heavy coat and top.
