Check out what he does in the 55th minute of the match on TG4 player.

He drives his knees into the back of Kidlare No.3's head while Fitzpatrick is on the ground.
There was clear intent in is actions and he could quite easily have broken the Kildare players neck.

It's possibly the most dangerous thing I've seen in football.

Excuse me, but why? Should he not be held accountable for his actions? Should they not be highlighted?
Or, do you just think that the title is inappropriate?

    There you go:

Looks to me as if he slipped. You don't watch too much GAA if thats the worse thing you've ever seen.

Whether you think it was intentional or not (and your opinion just that, opinion), you can't go around calling players scumbags.

absolute thuggery, could have easily injured him irrepairibly, Lost all respect I had for a great footballer yesterday

Plus one to both your points. Have seen far far worse than that, and its not clearly deliberate to me by any stretch.

Hard to believe this thread was started by a Moderator.

While I do agree what Connolly did was disgraceful, you can't go around calling people scumbags.

Absurd. There was no slip there. If you watched the game, you will see from another angle he had gotten to his feet ran about 2 metres and did that action trying to make it look like he was falling and not driving his knees into the players head.

I played football, hurling and rugby at an adult level for over ten years. Not to mind underage. I've seen plenty and received plenty.

Edit to say; I said this is possibly the most dangerous thing I've seen i.e. it could have broken his neck or killed the player. How could there be worse?

Jesus H, it was a mod who started this thread????

I suppose I'll be banned for saying this, but that's disgraceful

Not a mod of this forum, once a forum mod is online they will deal with it.

    yeah agree with this.

thread will probably be locked for the title, but it was a thuggish thing to do. he didnt slip, and it wasnt accidental. he led with his knees to hit the player in the head. the incident shouldnt be glossed over, which some are trying to do saying he got a yellow card, move on.

I'd have though a mod of any boards.ie forum would read the basic rules of the forum he is posting in, after all, we are expected to!!

A link to the other angle would be helpful, but it's very hard to make an argument that his motion through the air could be down to a slip considering where he initially gets off the ground from.

An innocent until proven guilty line is fair enough, but I don't expect to see any non-Dublin supporter saying that this looks more like accident than design.

@OP - change the thread title to avoid giving the mods no choice but to lock the thread.

The incident is worthy of discussion.

Well you'll have to post that other angle because to me its not clearly deliberate based on the clip you've included.

It looks deliberate to me, but it's pretty mild, he slides down his back glancing off his head. Nothing like the 'driving of knee' into the back of the head nearly breakin his neck that the OP makes out. I've seen worse in pretty much every game I've ever seen.

I don't think a knee to the back of the head can ever be considered as minor tbh.

Even if it could I couldn't agree with the assessment of this incident, it's really bad IMO.

Just for a further FYI people, personal abuse of GAA players and officials, calling them scumbags is something we take very seriously around here and condemn outright. I remember we had terrible problems with this on here about 3 years ago.

Also people should read the forum charter before posting

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056280122
Welcome to the boards.ie GAA forum. While we hope you enjoy your time here, we have the following rules that all posters must adhere to.

    The Golden Rule:
    There is no free speech!
This is a privately owned website. You do not have the right to say whatever you want on here. You are expected to obey the rules just like anyone else. Not following the rules will get you banned. It is very simple. You are allowed to discuss anything as long as it doesn't break the following rules.

    Abuse - boards members
Personal abuse of other posters is strictly prohibited, and will incur a minimum 1-week ban for first time offenders. There is no argument on this one. Abuse someone and you will be banned. Multiple offenders will be permanently banned from the forum. The GAA mods reserve the right to increase the length of the ban as we see fit based on the severity of the post.
Don't attack the poster, attack the post.

Abuse – GAA players, officials, employees, pundits etc
Same rules apply as above – minimum 1-week bans will be given for personally abusing anybody connected with the GAA, from players to pundits. The GAA mods reserve the right to increase the length of the ban as we see fit based on the severity of the post.

    Accusations, Speculation and Rumours
The GAA moderators are taking a zero-tolerance policy on this issue. While many posters think they are ‘in-the-know’, do NOT post any wild accusations about any GAA players or officials unless you provide an online source/link to back up your claim. This is a bannable offence and the GAA mods will edit or delete said posts until a source has been given.

    Advertising
Thread/posts that contain advertising will be both edited and locked. Members can PM the GAA mods if they wish to make special request, such as GAA fundraising activities. We also have a club advertising thread if you wish to advertise your club there.
If you wish to buy advert space, contact hello@boards.ie .

    Arguing with a Moderator
Do not argue with a moderator in a thread after they have given a warning or a ban etc. If you have an issue with a moderator's action then PM the mod in question. They will discuss it with you. You can then, if unsatisfied with the PM route, take things to Dispute Resolution Forum.

    Back-seat Modding
If you have a problem with a post, use the report post function. Posters who repeatedly back-seat mod will be banned.

    General Posting Guidelines
Please navigate around the forums before starting a new thread. Use the search function if you think something may have been posted before.
Before you post a thread, consider the following:
    - Is what I'm about to post relevant, coherent and funny or in any way interesting?
    - Does it add to the forum or is it another thread which is taking up space?
    - Has it been posted before?
    - Is it suitable for this forum?
Your threads and posts should be well thought out and coherent. This isn't AOL, there is no need for txt/leet speak or excessive punctuation. If in doubt, use a spell checker before you post. Meaningful threads add to the community. Always try to stay on-topic and contribute to a thread. Moderators are also there to help you if you have any issues or if you have any queries.

    Off Topic
Threads that stray off topic will be edited/deleted, depending on their relevance to the topic at hand. People who ignore a moderator's request to stay on topic will be banned for a week.

    Other Sports Threads
We have different forums for different sports. Posting about other sports here just because you don't have access to the other forums will result in the thread being locked and the user possibly being banned.

    Phone numbers
Do NOT post personal phone numbers of either yourself or anybody else. If you wish to give contact details of physios, club contacts etc do so via PM.

    Pointless Threads and Polls
Posting any pointless thread or poll will result in the thread being locked. You can be banned for this. Think before you post. If you don't have anything to say then don't bother posting a new thread. Please try to comment as much as you can on any threads you create. If you create a thread in which you ask people to contribute in, contribute first.

    Politics
We have a politics forum. Use it.

    Post formatting
Do NOT post in txtspk. It’s horrible to read and you have a full keyboard so you may as well use it. Posts should only be in regular size, black font. Posts in different colours or large text will be edited.

    Racism
Severe bans will be handed out for posters who make racist remarks on the forum, and the posts will be edited and deleted accordingly.

Registering a New Account to Circumvent a Ban
This will get all accounts site-banned.

    Spamming
Posts that are just complete nonsense will be deleted. You do not need to post threads in multiple forums – this is a site-bannable offense.

    Spoilers
Do not post the winner of a game in a thread title straight after a match. You can discuss the match result in the game’s thread, and only after the games highlights is shown on the Sunday Game can the match winner be made known in future thread titles.

    Ticket buying/selling/exchanging
Starting threads looking to buy, sell or exchange tickets for matches is strictly prohibited. You can use the tickets section on adverts.ie

    Trolling
Posting controversial threads or posts with the sole intention of getting a rise out of people is a 7 day bannable offense. Don't do it.

    Enjoy your posting.

Banned for a month.Calling a player a "scumbag" is against the charter which you clearly didn't read. It also goes against the general cop on that mods on this site have.

Clearly you are an exception whether Connolly was guilty of the offense ofr not.
