Problem connecting S2 to PC

    HI

Everytime I conntect my Galaxy s2 to my pc is says connecting but if I manually open up kies it does not connect at all, usually just times out, I have tried reinstalling kies several times and no result.

Seems that I cannot connect to the PC at all using this software. The PC is picking up the phone but it keeps saying installing new hardware and never actually installs.

I can however use the phone in windows to put music on but thats as far as I can get.

Any help would be much appreciated. :(

Kies is a joke, you're better off just connecting mass storage mode and transferring files that way.

If the phone and PC are on the same wifi network, try Airdroid.

Kies Air works pretty well as long as your PC and GS2 are connected to THE SAME NETWORK.

There are various Bluetooth apps that can transfer files between devices as well.

Install Kies Air on your GS2

Check the USB settings on the phone. it may be that causing the issue.

Settings > Wireless and Network > USB settings

See if the phone is set to connect to Kies when connected to PC. There should be three options here. One of them is Kies. Ensure this is selected and try again.

I use mass storage for files. Find it handier. But i suppose Kies is good for backing up things. Never use it myself for SGS1.

Ah. Doesn't it receive updates OTA?

I find Windows XP (I assume you have Vista or 7 64bit?) connects without any grief. If you can, use another PC just for the update.
