Internal Speaker?

Most motherboards still come with a connection for an internal speaker, the kind that gives the POST beep and various error codes, yet it's not often included with the motherboard in any form or with the computer chassis, certainly in items below the 100 euro price point. Online stores like Dabs or Hardwareversand don't seem to sell them separately, though I think there's call to do so. I know you can get them on Amazon and they're very inexpensive but it would be a nice thing to throw into a full build order from the one place. What cases or motherboards (1155, Z68 preferably) do you recommend that have these included?

The Xigmatek Asgard comes with an internal speaker included, its a great case for most budget builds.

Also most newer motherboards use an LED display to show any post errors, which can give a lot more information than beep codes.

I know that there are motherboards with things like LED lights or a small two digit display built in and cases with the speaker supplied or built in although these aren't necessarily things that are listed in the front page specs which is a pity because I think it's an important thing to consider when looking at such an important component as a motherboard or chassis.

I had considered the Asgard but I was concerned about the build quality, but I'm sure plenty of others have worked with it and liked it. My two choices would, at this point be either the Bitfenix Shinobi or the Fractal Design Core 3000.

If you want a good Z68 board that includes an LED debugger, this is a great choice:

Its crossfire/SLI ready as well as being quite cheap compared to similarly featured boards.

I did a build with the Core 1000 the other day and there was a detachable speaker supplied.

Comparing the photos of accessory bags for the respective cases just now, the FD 1000 does appear to be supplied with one whereas the 3000 does not, at least I cannot see one. Can't work out that decision. I mean the FD 3000 does come with a fan controller but would that really mean they'd drop the speaker?

I should think that the Core 3000 would have one then but I'd looked through spec sheets as well as photos from various unboxings and couldn't spot one so I was unsure.

You can see the speaker inside the screw baggie for the Core 1000 here in techpowerup's review.

But I can't see it here in their review of the Core 3000, unless its under the fan cables, or mounted in the case.

Those were the exact same two photos I was comparing. It really does look like they've dropped the speaker in the slightly higher end 3000 case. I suppose a corner had to be cut somewhere....

Alternatively, you could buy a 5V buzzer from peats/maplin/or similar for €1-2.

Yeah I could of course. I just find it annoying and a bit puzzling that chassis and motherboard manufacturers neglect to include such a handy and useful item in a good number of their products. Thanks for your help anyway.
