15 euro extra a month for the HD channels, and you need to call them so they can set up your box with your viewing card. You only get HD channels based on your sub, so if you don't have movies and sports - its pretty limited in terms of noticing HD.

That was my experience anyway. Might be better to wait for the experts on here to respond.

You have to sign up to HD for a min of 12 months

All you must do is swap out the boxes and swap the card also. The premium channels (movies&sports) are the only paired channels.

If in the very unlikely event your Sky+ won't operate you will have to ring sky. Very painless operation if required. Just have the viewing card number and tell them you want to pair the card and box. They will talk you through the rest.

Oh really! I never knew that, when I got my HD box it said wrong viewing card or something like that on every channel, had to call them. Means I can bring my viewing card with me when I travel, not bad! Sorry for hijacking thread...

Good point and a much better selection than UPC, I think HD is more worth while if you sub to movies and sports. Would others not agree? (Obviously not you!) Depends on what you watch perhaps?

Maybe it's set as single LNB input mode and you need to change it back?

No point having a HD box and connecting it to the TV with Scart , Scart is SD only , it will work of course , but you wont be seeing HD.

You need the HDMI cable , any one will do , Tescos have them.

This wont have anything to do with it not recording though!

Good point about HDMI,but Scart is actually one of the posters usernames on this thread.;)

@smodgely,check there's 2 cables connected to the box and they are in properly,as was stated before also check that the box isn't in single feed mode.

Press SERVICES, 0,0,1,SELECT to get into the Installer Menu.

At the bottom of the list on screen you should see SINGLE FEED MODE,if it's set to on then change it to off.

Don't think that - just trying to justify paying sky an extra 15 - would need to have the movies personally.

Edit: To save anyone else quoting the channels http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HD_channels_in_the_UK

It should also be noted that
    BBC One HD
    BBC HD
    ITV1 HD
    STV HD
    CH4 HD
    NHK HD
    are free to air.

Someone complained in the Netflix thread here that Sky Movies showed Superman and the sequels.
What they don't get is that only now are these films available in HD.No difference than buying a BluRay of an old movie.I like watching these old movies again in HD.
Just look at the demand when the Star Wars BluRays were released.

Classics deserve to be seen in all their glory.
