    Hi All,

Have been reading up on a few different posts here and am looking for feedback on window companies in the midlands for a new self build house. Would seem <SNIP> would not come highly recommended. Just wondering if anyone would have any feedback if you had <SNIP> windows installed?? Waiting on a price from <SNIP> also but i'd say they will be a little outside my budget!!

    Thanks folks

I asked <SNIP> for a quote and spoke to some young fella who talked a great game but knew little about windows. I also spoke to <SNIP> who also didn't impress me. I had done thorough research beforehand was given inaccurate information and they didn't like to be challenged on this. Luckily I got correct info eventually from other sources.
Alot of these companies are not used to been scrutinised in an indept manner by customers and react accordingly. They just want to make sales and move on.
There are some very good companies out there and you dont have to stick to the midland region.
I do like the Grady window but I wasn't keen on their french / sliding doors. You seem to know enough about Munster.
    best of luck

Try <SNIP>. They did our House 10 years ago. Very good spec and price. We recently replaced a 25 year old slider patio door with one of their French Doors also. Price was way better than "others".

I have no ties to them in any way. Just a good job at a good price. The staff from Sales through to installation were very helpful.

    Good luck.

I got <SNIP>, 0.84 u-value. We moved in last April and our site is exposed. <SNIP> their windows are designed to withstand gale force winds. Well we got "Voilent Storm Force" winds on Jan. 3rd and we were as snug as bugs in rugs. I couldnt recommend them high enough. I have no ties to them in any way.

I have moderated this thread to get it back in-line with our forum charter. I think the following post from muffler best explains the reasoning behind why we don't allow company names to be thrown around on-thread.

Part 3.0 of the forum charter clearly states that the naming of a business/company/product is "at their discretion" (moderators), which is the main point here but I should elaborate a little. I dont see any great problem (but see below) with any of the major suppliers etc being named as they dont really need the free plugs. Its the shills who post here that trouble me most, First post and they state something like "I am thinking of getting my windows/roof tiles/solar panels/frilly knickers or whatever from a company called kissmearse Ltd who give me a great price and was wondering if anyone had any dealings with them" That type of thing is not acceptable and even if a major company is named by a new user here we will moderate the post in some way or other.

The other exception is where we think that the general community here will benefit from information being provided in a particular thread or post. Its a judgement call on our part and we have to decide if the offending post was intended to be of assistance to everyone here or merely a deliberate ploy to promote some business or other. Again we give a wide berth to the established users here as we know we can trust them and they wouldn't dream of pimping anyone or any business.

This forum is all about sharing information and offering advice and help. It is not for individuals or businesses to gain from their involvement here. At times it may appear that there are inconsistencies but there's not really. Its our call at the end of the day and any call that we make is done so for the benefit of this forum.

In summary we don't have any problems with the large established firms/businesses being named especially by the regulars but we wont be as liberal when we see small private businesses being named or any business being named by anyone who is relatively new to the forum.

Again, there is no need to respond to this post just keep the thread on-topic from here on, thank you.
