How to petition the Government?

    I recently discovered that the USA has a website which allows people to directly petition the government to pursue a course of action (such as investigating corrupt officials), just google 'white house petitions', it'll be the first hit.

    My question is whether there is a similar facility available to the citizens of the Republic of Ireland?
