Right first off, kind of new to the whole modifying forum,

Just wanted to know whats the differences between say b16, b18, k20? are they just types of vtec engines?

Also whats the difference between EP, EG and Ive seen a few more abreviations on donedeal?

And last question for ye that I can think of at the moment.
Whats peoples opinions about 1.6 vtec and the 2.0 vtec in the pre facelift model of honda civics (03-04)? I can get qoutes on the 1.6 of 1800 which IMO isnt bad seeing as im only just 18, and only have my full just over the year and only have 1 year named driver exp but no company is willing to give a qoute on 2.0?

    Thanks in advance

First of all i am no expert but ill try explain what i know about what you asked :D

B16 mean 1.6 which are 158bhp to be exact and is first generation of the engines.

B18 is 1.8 are like 180 bhp or close to 200bhp i think!

k20 are 2.0 i think you get the picture but please someone correct me if im wrong.

Eg are the old style civics that start at 1992 to 1995... If you were getting a "oldschool" civic id get one of them as they look great when work is put into them! Ep civics are the ones which range from 2002 to like 2004 to my memory.. Lovely cars but to get one in type R version youd need to be 21 most likely.

I love the EP type civic! Alot of pros with these cars heard no cons with them not saying there isnt anyway though. Gearbox is suppose to be great and smooth! Ride is suppose to be great on the road. since it also has iVtec there isnt that big bang that you get out of the old civics, which is good because you also have to sacrifice your hearing to even get at that point. The engine is alot more quiet aswell and is smoother to get to vtec without tearing the car apart :D But to answer your question... MY opinion is they're a cracking car to be honest with you! i know i sound like i own one, i dont, my friend does and the times im in it i dont want to get out haha.

Another thing i noticed in your thread. You got a quote of 1800 on yuor own and your only 18? thats a brillaint quote  mind telling me what company you got that with or you can PM me if you dont wana say it on the thread. also is that 1.6 straight or vtec? im guessing by the looks of it its straight 1.6?

First off thanks for the detailed answer, ....
Emmm It was advertised as a 2004 Civic sport 1,6 vtec advertised on Donedeal and I just put the Reg plate into Quinns "get a qoute" function, put in all my details. I'll try have a look on DD again later on tonight If I get the chance and see if I can find the car I was looking at :)

There's loads of variations of the B Series engine, B16A is an SIR, B16B is an EK9 Type R, B18C is a Teg Type R.

K series were in the newer cars, The K20 was in the EP Civic Type R, DC5 Integra and CL7 Accord Type R. Again there's probably letters after the variants of that engine.

There's too many variants to list em all in a post. Have a look at wiki to learn em all!
