hi folks, whats the best way to do a macbook pro clean lion install?

one of my macs is a mid 2010 MBP model, came originally with snow leopard installed, over the last while it was running a little slow so i decided to do a clean install and see how that goes,

    steps i did was,

    1. boot from LION usb pen, and disk utility and wipe drive.
    2. boot from usb lion pen and do fresh install of lion..
    3. when lion install finishes it asks to transfer programs, and files etc from a backup ( not a flat drive restore) so i did that .. and pointed it to my time capsule unit, where i selected , users, applications , etc

how does the way i did it, compare to booting from the usb lion drive and choosing restore from time machine backup. ? ( instead of fresh install)

when the macbook powered back on, i was forced to enter registration information again, no option but to, does this affect anything?

    cheers,
