    Hi all,

    We are in the process of moving to Australia and wondering does anyone have experience in using a 40 foot container. Roughly how much does it cost to get one of these containers?

    Thanks

    Hello Shandsaker 1982

    I would not recommend buying a 40' container unless you are looking to store some of your household items.

    The shipping lines would put one of their 40' containers at your disposal. In Ireland you would have two hours to load the container (they would be prepared to leave the container with you overnight but are likely to have to charge a double run).

    I would recommend to have a word with Emma Garland in Irish Shipping. They handle a lot of personal effects. I am sure she can give you further advice and quote you for shipping a 40' container to Australia. She can certainly quote you upto arrival Australian port, and she may also be able to recommend a reliable agent in Australia to handle the customs formalities and delivery on that side.

    Her contact details are ;

    Thanks a lot, I just emailed her there. We need to get moving. Cant believe some of the quotes we are getting back on 500 cubic feet at 5100 euro, dont know how realistic it is to take anything at that price!
